#12YearsofCaptainvDhoni The Iconic Momonents No One Can Ever Forget

It was September 13, 2007, when MS Dhoni walked in for the first time as the Captain of The Indian Cricket Team. It may not be the day when he had to do some real job out in the field because the match abandoned due to rain. But he showed the capabilities of his leadership in the very next game against the arch-rivals, Pakistan. People may not remember the match now – but that clash had all the elements of a perfect thriller. Every game against Pakistan is a high-pressure game and that day people got to watch the only tie game in the tournament and the mastermind of game MS Dhoni. The rest is history. All the things that happened that day were indicating that India is going to have a captain who’d go on to change Indian cricket in a very irreversible way. And that started with that very WorldCup win. It’s been 12 years of Mahi becoming captain, here are some of the iconic moments of him while leading the Men In Blue.

Leading India to victory in the maiden T20 World Cup (2007) with the unexpected decision to send Joginder Sharma to bowl last over. 

With 13 runs needed in the last over and one wicket remaining, the out of the box decision of sending Joginder Sharma to bowl the over was the first time people got to watch the brilliant decision making of Mahi. With that win, MSD’s captaincy had a fairytale success.

Hitting the winning six at Wankhede, winning the world cup after 28 years.

Oh My God! that moment. That moment still gives the goosebumps to many of us. Surely that was the moment of our lifetime. That was a gift from Mahi to the country and Sachin Tendulkar.

Winning the Champions Trophy and becoming the only captain in the international cricket to win all three major ICC tournaments.

2013 was the year when MS Dhoni added another trophy to the collection. He executed the win in style as the team remains unbeaten throughout the tournament. With the win in the finals of champions trophy, he became the only captain in the international cricket to win all three major ICC trophy.

Leading India to number one ranking in Tests for the first time in history.

That was 2009 and the series vs. Shri Lanka, MS Dhoni did what no Indian captain had done before. With the 2-0 win in the series team India clinched the top position in the ICC test ranking for the first time in the history.

The first captain to whitewash Australia on their home soil in the 21st century.

In the year 2016, T20 series against Australia, Men In Blue under Dhoni’s captaincy proved the dominance in the format by winning all games in the series.

So, here were some of the moments to prove that India will never find a captain like MS Dhoni.

The former skipper is currently not a part of team India in the ongoing T20 series against South Africa.
